Week Five, I got This!

Fourth week is over! Finally... Week five here we come!!!

This week was crazy, there were sooooooo many meetings and they added a branch to our area. So we now cover Williamsport, Attica and all the other small towns out there. Its the best branch, we just need a little work with less actives.

So on Tuesday we went on splits. I went with Sis. Alexander to Purdue and taught my first lessons!!!!! We taught the ten commandments and the Restoration. It was great to testify of Joseph Smith and the first vision and to actually Feel the spirit present. It was a great day. I learned so much about myself and about teaching. My companion went with Sis. Spratling to visit Old Man Sam. 

Sam was a gift from God, we met him while tracting, he was the last house and it was so cold I didn't want to be there. He reminds me a lot of my Uncle Cal. An old mountain man look to him. We introduced the Plan of Salvation to him and asked him if he knew any Mormons, he promptly said "No I don't like those Mormons, they believe in that Joe Smith dude." We left without a second thought. Then come P-day he calls, and said he read the pamphlet and thought it was cool how merciful it was. So, Sis. Collins went to see him on Tuesday and said he was waiting FOREVER to answer questions...but they were good answers. I can't wait to meet him, I have a feeling we will get along all to well.

 We also had a surprise baptism this week as well. A 9 year old boy in the Williamsport branch has been wanting to be baptized for some time now, but when they pulled the sisters the family didn't know how to go about doing it. I'm glad we were able to go and support Braxton!

Well the moral of this week is Work. Work hard, the harder you work the happier one will be and the more God CAN bless you. 

I love the analogy of being stuck in the mud. 

God is more likely to help the one who is trying to push his truck out of the mud than the one praying to be unstuck. Get out there and work Hard and the Lord will bless our efforts what ever they may be.

Special Training Day for the New Missionaries with President and Sister Carlson

Alma 26:11 Oh My Joy Is Full in my GOD!

This week was awesome!!! We met a lot of people, felt the spirit and shared some testimony! The highlight of this week has to be the growth I've seen in my own testimony. It started with a weird tracting experience:

    Mary Joe opened the door to her cute house and invited us in. She told her husband we were there and he came running up stairs, at this point we hadn't said anything about who we were or where we were from, her husband Rod, came into the room with a Book of Mormon in his hands. He offered us a seat and said "so what do you have for me now?" I didn't know what to say, how do you approach that? 

     After some questions he told us he and his wife had been to temple square, seen the Christus and listened to missionaries. He then asked about the qualifications for the Highest kingdom and said he believed everything we do except he doesn't feel worthy to be a God. He would rather clean up the crumbs from Jesus' feet. He also has a hard time with Joseph Smith. ... And that's where he got me. I had nothing really to give him he didn't already know. How could I testify of something I knew very little about. 

I left confused and frustrated with myself. I decided then and there I was going to get to know Joseph Smith as my Prophet and Restorer of truth. I studied the first vision, the witnesses testimonies and talks from last conference. It came down to the Book of Mormon. I shouldn't have been surprised, but I was. The prophets have said "This book is the key stone of our religion". The Book of Mormon is the gorilla glue holding this church together! Over the past week I have found my testimony grow stronger because of the strength, peace and answers I get from reading the words of our past prophets. I love there stories and examples, we have the whole pie at our finger tips! They had to look, pray and ask for the answers. The brother of Jared didn't even know that God the Father has a body! We have everything! because Joseph Smith had the courage to believe and follow the promptings of the spirit and be faithful to our Savior and our Heavenly Father! Praise be there names! I now know what role Joseph Smith played in My life and I challenge all who hear this message that you too will pray for an experience to strengthen your relationship with the prophet of the final Restoration! I say these things in the sacred name of Jesus Christ, who made all this possible, Amen. 

We also expanded our area, YAY!!!! We get to cover Williamsport and Attica, too.

WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!

Hey Everyone! Hope you're all having a good week. 

Things have been looking up here in West Lafayette.  First of all, I finally got down how to spell "Lafayette" and second, I have gotten to know my companion a whole lot better. Sister Collins really has a crazy story, she's from Washington State, is the middle of 7 and her dad is a secret agent! ...um, but keep that on the down low... She is one of the most hard working people I have ever seen, like a steam engine, once she gets going there is no slowing her down. We go in all kinds of weather and at any time. She is a tomboy to the core, lives for the life of soccer and is great at EVERY sport she tries! I hope to send pictures in the future. I'm still learning how to take a selfie. The point is Sister Collins is the Greatest Trainer in the Whole Mission! 

 

We have met some special people this week, but are still working on getting them to stick. Two things I have learned this week about life: 1. Baptist...don't...like Mormons and 2. There are some cool Baptists out there! 

I had one of the coolest experiences this week with a lady named Sara. She wants to take her kids to church and they want to go, believe me, they want to go, but they stopped going to her husbands church because of the amount of money they had to pay, kind of like tithing. Her sister is a JW and her husband is a Baptist, but she wants something diffrent for her family. We hope to meet with her again.

A couple days later we met Clay, he doesn't have a church but he is really intrested in our church building.  He asked for a tour, after all he was on the roof last year getting a lost ball for his brother. 

Another great experience was meeting Monique. Monique is wheelchair bound due to a car accident some years ago. In the middle of an Indiana winter she was pushed off the road by a semi. The car rolled and she laid there for 6 hours waiting for someone to help her. She was traveling from California to Indiana for a christening of one of her grandchildren, but she never made it. In the end she lost her right leg and has PTSD in hospitals. We asked her how she made it through 6 hours and she said it was because of Jesus. She was so focused on praying and had the faith to be found she was able to make it. 

Monique is very special to me, we have only met with her once, but in that 1 1/2 hour conversation I came to love her.

 

Life's pretty great in Indiana, I hope you guys are safe from the storm. I love you all and I pray for you every night.

Indiana Here I COME!

Happy New Year!!!! Indiana is officially the Best mission in the world!

This week has kind of been crazy. It started at the airport when we missed our flight from Minneapolis to Indianapolis. But there was a reason... my amazing companion, Sis. Muhlestein was ready and able to teach an elderly man the Restoration and he not only accepted the Book of Mormon, but he took it right out of her hands! We also made it in at 5p.m. instead of 11p.m. like we thought. It was so nice! We also got Chick-fil-a, SUPER stoked for that! Then we spent the night at the Mission home, met our companions the next day and then we were off! 

     I am currently in Lafayette, serving with the nicest people on the planet! I love the members, they are so good to Sis. Collins and I. A tender mercy I have seen this week happened just yesterday. 

When I came out to my area things were moving a little slow, we have a clean slate to work with and it's Great! Yesterday was fast Sunday, so we were fasting for the work and each other and the people of Indiana. I asked to be guided and boy were we guided! My companion picked an area on the map and I picked a street and we took off tracting after church, no one was home accept like 5 people. I got to experience giving a lesson on the Restoration to this guy who works with a christian based housing company, the Plan of Salvation to an atheist who was raised Catholic, and kind of Bible bashed with this Lutheran guy, but it's kind of hard if you don't know the bible, so it was just us testifying of the truthfulness of Joseph Smith. Heavenly Father showed me just a touch of how those who are ready to receive the gospel will recognize us as servants of him. 

 I love this Church so much, this is the church of Christ and I can't wait to learn more about his Life and example. I pray all of you can have the chance to feel the same way. I love you all and wish you the best of God!

I had a really hard first week, I think it was just because this is the first time I have ever been thrown somewhere that is completely new with no one I know. Oh ya and I have to talk to people, ... instead of there dog... It's been a cool learning experience.  
We love Sister Partridge's sense of humor!  She's awesome!

Safe Arrival!

 The following letters were sent to Sister Partridge's parents which contains important information for those wanting to write or send a package to her:

Dear Brother and Sister Partridge: 
             As you can see Sister Partridge arrived safely in Indiana last night -her flight was delayed but they eventually got here!  We are so happy to have her here with us.  After we met the new missionaries at the airport we brought them to the mission home for dinner, introductions and rest. 

             This morning, after a good breakfast, the newly arrived missionaries will attend an orientation meeting at the chapel located in Fishers (which is about 10 minutes from the mission home and is also the location of the mission office).  In the early afternoon your missionary will meet her companion and then travel to her first assigned area. 
             We appreciate all you do to encourage your missionary in their adjustment to missionary life.  We are so impressed by the caliber of these missionaries.  We truly love them, as we know you do, too. 
             Our mission has a Facebook page on which we post pictures of the missionaries from time to time.  It is called “Indiana Indianapolis Mission With Full Purpose of Heart”.
